COURSE SYLLABUS

 

I. Course Title: 
Analysis of Interpersonal Violence

II. Course Description: This course is designed for investigative law enforcement personnel who have the responsibility of investigating violent crime.  It involves the psychological analysis of all types of violent scenes, i.e. sexual assault and homicide.  Different mental illness is studied along with the violent scenes associated with their maladies.  Interview techniques and strategies are discussed.

III. Target Population: This course is designed for investigative personnel who have the responsibility of investigating violent crime.

IV. Course Objectives

  1. To introduce the student to the fundamentals of Criminal Investigative Analysis.
  2. To psychologically analyze body positions and target areas on victims.
  3. To study the different types of psychosis and their crime scenes.
  4. To study the Paranoiac and their scenes to include the political assassin, the mass murderer and work place violence.
  5. To discuss the disorganized crime scene.
  6. To study the Personality Disorders encountered mostly by law enforcement, i.e. obsessive compulsive, inadequate, and anti-social (psychopath).
  7. Develop interview strategies for all of the above.
  8. Discuss and analyze the organized and mixed crime scene.
